Equal Under the Law is a Sweet Thing

I’ve been a weepy crybaby shell of a human being today and if you aren’t in the same shape after reading the news article below then go drink some water because you’ve got a case of severe dehydration.
Need a tissue?
Told you so.

Kelli and Steph –> Glad to know you’re just as sappy as me. I was glued to the TV coverage tonight of Del and Phyllis and am just so grateful that this happened in their lifetime, particularly because they were at the forefront of all that brought us to this day and how sweet they had a chance to taste the reward of their labor.

I’ve been tearful also. The sweet taste of equality, the faith of those two women that this day would come for them and everyone.
I hope I never forget this feeling of joy, relief, and pride.

Soooo……when are you and D going?

I had the honour of witnessing a very beautiful wedding this past weekend in Vancouver. The grooms are two of the nicest Christian men I’ve ever met. I just couldn’t miss it, although it meant 30 hours of driving in 4 days.
I also wish to congratulate ALL the couples in California who will be able to now have their love recognized in law. And pray that other states will follow too. Equality for all. I am very thankful for my freedom here in Canada and hope this laws will become universal.
Love, endures all & conquers all. Del Martin and Phylis Lyon are a living embodiment of this.

Ceara –>I’m with you! I’ve been mindful these past days of the prophet Amos’ words, “when justice rolls down like waters in a mighty stream.” I think that describes the feeling best…roll on justice, roll on!
Steph–>We’re heading over to city hall this coming Tuesday to get our marriage license and then the following Sunday we’ll be strolling down the aisle at church once again. Because we did the big hoopla in 2002 we’re just keeping this simple….a few words and prayer, a little cake, the signing of the license, and a whole lot of joy. All are invited!
Eliz–> What a lovely story to read this morning!

That’s wonderful. So wonderful. If we could get there, we would be there.

Hey Anita! Congrats to you and D (again and again)!!! WE celebrated our 18th anniversary of our Holy Union on May 26. Until I retire from teaching next year, we can’t even think about marriage (all comes down to providing for my sweetie and not being “tarred and feathered”, then killed before I even get my retirement). Such are the dangers in these parts…so sad!!! So, we love in private with God right here smiling broadly and blessing us!!!
Question: We keep hearing about 110 rights that would be ours if we get married. Where can we find a list of these 110 rights??? Please help if you can!
Best wishes and God’s rich blessings be with you two!!!

J and S –> Hey there Girls! Congratulations on your recent anniversary…how wonderful! I’ll cheer the day when you two are able to consider marriage without worry although you’re as married a couple as I’ve ever known! I don’t know about 110 rights because I believe it’s over a 1000 rights and benefits alloted straight married couples that gay couples are prohibited from having. Check out this site for a list of 25 of the key ones.
Love to you both!

What a beautiful thing! I am so excited for that couple, and for you and your wife as well! Enjoy the re-marriage of your hearts and spirits to one another next week! I cried at all 3 of my commitment opportunities to my partner.
Bless you both!!
