A Survey Question

I want to get your input on something so feel free to tell me what you think.
I was wondering if there would be any benefit to me occasionally providing an audio track of me reading some of my blog entries. The way it would look is that the blog entry would be posted like usual but at the bottom or top there would be an option for listening to it over the computer. The audio would probably be the same content as the writing. The only difference being that it would be me speaking the way I speak rather than reading the way I write. Did that make sense?
Anyway, I don’t know why I’m thinking about doing this but I am. Would hearing a human voice, my voice that is, mean anything to anyone? Would it be more meaningful or enjoyable or whatever?

I would enjoy the chance to close my eyes and really listen to one of your blogs. I am more of a auditory learner (even though I am hard of hearing lol) The only down side would be that those of us that live in the sticks and only have access to dial-up, it would take a while. But I say go for it. I think it would add to your messages.

Hm. I say do it! I’m certain it would be beneficial to many. I believe some people receive things better when they read it and other’s receive it better when they listen to it. Then there’s people like me too, who enjoy both! Thanks for everything you do Anita!

I would LOVE to have some audio available! The site is absolutely wonderful as it is, but the audio would be a great addition.
I love the site and look forward to seeing each new entry. The series you have going on now about coming out is especially encouraging to me right now. I wanted to leave a comment last night after reading but didn’t because I couldn’t think of the verse that was on my mind and was afraid I’d misrepresent it. Well, I looked it up today to make sure I wasn’t making up something. So, I just wanted to say that after reading your first entry on Lazarus and coming out, the biggest thing that came to my mind was the verse where Jesus is talking to his disciples and tells them that he is leaving them peace. When I looked it up, it’s John 14:27. That is one of the greatest treasures I take from your site every day - PEACE. And this particular entry - on the closet and Lazarus - flooded my entire being with peace. I thank God for using you to leave His peace with me once again.

Yes I would love to hear your voice!I think it would be a very comforting feeling to hear a friendly voice-I love the idea!!! Thank you for all you are doing your fantastic! I come here every day, it is like checking in with friends. It is a very comfortable place to come after trying so hard all day to fit into the “straight” world. I can let down my guard and know it is OK-Thank you so so much!!!

Let’s hear it for the possibility of hearing it! Even an aucio podcast now and then might be nice as it would let some people carry your words and listen to them as they run/walk/drive/sleep/ etc, etc, etc. Might make it easy to share with people who haven’t heard the good news. Even reading an article on the bible and sexuality might fit in this category of a podcast or a reading - almost like a sermon. You might put a sermon or 2 you’ve preached on the subject out there.

It looks like a trip to Radio Shack for a microphone will be added to my to-do list. I really appreciate the responses
L–>That’s one of the scriptures that meant so much to me in my own early days. I was really mystified by the peace I had despite finding myself in a situation where everything I had once believed had shifted and the perfect little plan for how my life would look wasn’t playing out as I’d always imagined. The peace that Christ gives really is that peace that passes all understanding coming in situations where peace would seem absent and coming in a way that overwhelms all else. Thank you for reminding me of that scripture L and if you find any peace here in the ramble of words then it’s all worth it. Truly.

Cindy–>I’m glad the site’s a comfortable place for you. That really makes me happy to hear! When I was redesigning the site one of the words I used over and over with my web designer was that I wanted the place to feel comfortable like people were hanging out with a friend. I certainly feel that way when I’m writing and reading everyone’s comments and I hope the same is true for all those who visit. Glad you’re here Cindy!

wonderful idea!!!! Might I suggest you go to a music store to get a mic. Huge differace for the listener. You can get the adapter for the small mic hole at radio shack if they don’t have it at the music store.
anyway… great idea.

Anita - what a wonderful idea. I would just love to hear you reading these wonderful entries. Because of your talent as a writer, it is very easy to read your entries and understand exactly what you are saying - but what a powerful way it would be to reach those of us who really would just rather listen to you - especially on some of the longer entries. GREAT IDEA!!!! Can’t wait to hear!!!!! Thanks for allowing us to give our input!

Anita, I just recently found your site and LOVE it!!
I’d LOVE to HEAR what you have to say! Your writings are very interesting and comfortable!
I read your story and was very pleased and enthused to see that you are a Preacher!
COOL! We are looking for a minister at our church and my friend K and I are on the committee. It sure would be nice to find someone who would be open and even enthusiastic about “welcoming and affirming” I do think our church is —SLOWLY—moving in that direction!
We have a couple of good candidates…Now to get one of them here and helping us all move forward…..we also want to be ever more involved in mission work!
There is a community food kitchen/help night in our future starting in July!!! It would be once a month.

Laurie–> Hi Laura and welcome! So glad you found us here! Being on a search committee for a pastor is a big undertaking so good for you and K for taking it on. I hope you find a candidate who has a strong commitment to justice and to extending the welcome of Christ to all. Good luck with that…and blessings too! And that’s awesome about the community food kitchen! I volunteered at one for a couple years while living in Eugene OR and it was an incredible experience…worthwhile and fun!
