My prayer is for greed and ego to fall to the feet of generosity and compassion. Not only will we see the lion and the lamb comforting each other but also the Israelis and the Palistinians, the Muslims and the Hindi, the dark-skinned and the freckled redheads, those with oil and those without food. THEN we can sing along with Louis Armstrong “What a wonderful world”.

As we celebrate Christmas–may we see Jesus with fresh eyes, Immanuel–God IS with us! With you, with me, with each of us!

May we hear the message of Christmas with fresh ears. The message is simply this: “Come Closer.”

Let us be drawn into the safety & warmth of God’s presence, where perfect love resides, where all fears flee. Let us hear God’s gentle words of love: “How beautiful YOU are, there is no blemish in you! I delight in YOU!”

I sometimes hear this quote from Audre Lorde as a prayer:
“To refuse to participate in the shaping of our future is to give it up … Each of us must find our work and do it. Militancy no longer means guns at high noon, if it ever did. It means actively working for change, sometimes in the absence of any surety that change is coming.”
