I look forward to what more you have to offer! I have often pondered and discussed with others what is meant by the “deny the flesh” language of Paul. Since I’m not a Biblical literalist, I don’t see it meaning our “flesh and blood” body, but to beware of the tendancy toward the “me me me” focus that we all fall prey to and lifting up that focus as God. I don’t find language in Scripture to support the idea that to have sex and–goodness–enjoy it is a “sinful” thing. The times when having sex has been “bad” have been those times when it wasn’t about love between two people, but about one person using another person. (Hmmm… what do you think self? Has this been a satisfactory theological conversation?) Thanks! :)
