Eggstra Calories Contest
April 7, 2009

UPDATE: We have a winner! TDK guessed 125 eggs for a total of 3750 calories. The correct number were 122 eggs for a total of 3659 calories which puts her within the 100 calorie more or less range! Congrats TDK!
If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time you might have noticed that I like contests! Even more than that, I like sending off prizes to the winners!
Now, you might be wondering what games and prizes have to do with “providing a safe and welcoming online faith community for lesbian, bisexual, questioning and transgender women” so let me tell you. All of us in one way or another have experienced hurt, rejection, betrayal and a fair amount of internal struggle in coming out as a Christian lesbian. Some of you are going through the most difficult days in your journey right now, and even those of us who have already stumbled through the rockier parts of the road still confront homophobia and discrimination in one way or another as a part of our every day lives, but even in the midst of fighting for equality and bearing up against hardships, we need to stop now and again, lighten up, and have a heaping dose of silly. Silly is a good thing. I excel at silly.
And so on that note, congratulations to Joni who recently won a 30.00 Amazon gift certificate for picking me out of the Pep Squad Lineup, and as a reminder there’s still an unclaimed 30.00 Amazon gift certificate floating out there for anyone willing to grab a bag of flour and tackle this. So far there have been no takers.
Now in the spirit of Easter chocolaty goodness, guess the number of eggs in the 6-inch tall glass jar and then estimate the number of total calories. The first person to come within 100 calories more or less of the actual total will win the chocolate eggs and a surprise! So come on, play with me!
And remember, as always, contest entries must be submitted to the comment section of this blog post and not sent through email.

Let’s see.. I guess about 120 eggs, and about 15,500 calories…

150 eggs @ 2250 calories… eh?
April 7th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
Hmmmmm…..
Ok, so how wide is the “jar”? Are the eggs considered small or medium sized? And do we get to keep the “jar”? LOL, just askin’.
Alright, here is my quess-I say 84 eggs with a total of 13, 440 calories.

Mmmm…ok, about 100 eggs and 4,400 calories total.

I’m going to guess that there are 50 eggs @ 100 calories/egg. That would make 5000 calories. Unless you get a caloric discount for eating the eggs in bulk …

Gang–> Well my friends, no one is within the 200 calorie winning range yet (100 over or 100 under). A few of you are semi-close however to the number of eggs in the glass vase.
Let’s see Stephanie, the widest point of the jar is about 4 inches and no, you can’t win it but you too can purchase one through Crate N’ Barrel! As to the size of the eggs, hey’re chocolate eggs! Just everyday average ol’ chocolate eggs. Not too big, not too small, just sort of medium you goof ball!
April 7th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
I believe there are 142 eggs in the glass jar, which puts it around 7867 calories.
April 7th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Goofball? Huh. Well, I asked because #1-yes, I am a goofball and #2, size does matter when it comes to figuring out calorie content.
So, will the surprise gift be a gift card to Crate N’ Barrel so I can buy the vase……a.k.a the jar, if I win?
Kidding.
Ok, so can we guess again or do we only get one chance?

I am going to guess 125 eggs at a total calories of 3,750
April 7th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
I think there is a about 80 pieces at around 530 calories
I seem to be calling it low comparably….but maybe that is why the scale keeps going higher!

TDK–> And YOU are the winner!!! There was a total of 122 eggs for a total of 3659 calories (210 calories per 7 egg serving)!
April 7th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
Yes, the weeks of dieting and counting calories finally pays off!
April 7th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
TDK –> Boy, can I relate to that!
April 8th, 2009 at 6:14 am
