It’s Not Complicated

Date October 2, 2008

As you may already know, same sex couples currently have legal access to marriage in California. Proposition 8 on the November ballot seeks to eliminate that right by amending the California constitution so that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in our state. There have been ads by both proponents and opponents of the proposition appearing on radio and TV in recent days but this privately produced video response breaks the issue down to what we’re really talking about in the greater debate.

    Cried. Head hurts worse.

People don’t seem to understand simple. They want to complicate things. God is love. God created us in His image. Therefore we are creatures of love. Love never fails. Love is never wrong. Government has no place telling people who they can or can’t love.

Two people living a life of LOVE together, not hurting anyone else, minding their own lives, contributing to Community…to Humanity, certainly don’t hurt anyone else and should be a positive example to everyone! It should NOT matter WHO the two people are. God sure doesn’t mind who they are! He put me and my K together and we’re extremely grateful!!

And I never liked Paul! ;-) I recognize this as the passage often used at weddings, so how beautifully appropriate to have it as “the message” to Californians as they prepare to vote next month. Thanks for sharing and thanks be to God.

I’m taking a class (my last semester to get my Bachelor’s Degree:) on Sex Differences taught by a lesbian feminist (she is the best teacher I’ve ever had!) and she says that we need to focus on the individual we love, not the sex of the person. I love my Stacey because she is a wonderful, intelligent, warm and caring person, not simply because she is a woman (though I do like that!) I have come to realize that it is NEVER wrong to love:)
