Marriage Equality Bridge Walk Round Up

Date September 15, 2008

I hope you all had as nice a weekend as I did and those of you in storm territory are safe in home and body. I had intended to upload the photos and stories last night but was too pooped to post, and this morning I’m trying to get myself out the front door to catch a flight for another few days with my mom.

Here are a few photos from our one-night getaway to Santa Cruz and some snaps from Sunday’s Marriage Equality Bridge Walk. By late tonight I should be able to revise this post and fill it in a bit more with a few moments I wanted to share with you.

    Anita-

Thank you for the wonderful slide shows! Very interesting and some really nice perspectives. I rode the Giant Dipper – my first roller coaster ride – back in ‘93 on a California vacation. Your pics brought back fond memories.

Great pictures, especially of the pooch in pouch. Wish y’all in California could motivate us to a better fight here in Florida. I’m getting nervous about Amendment Two!

Apropos of nothing, I used to live in Santa Cruz—so it was really nice to see those photos. Thanks.

Rick–>You rode the Big Dipper? You’re a braver man than I…aside from the most obvious reason of course! Seriously, I got nauseated just watching the rides. Perhaps it was a combination of the motion of the rides and the thought of chocolate-dipped bacon, greasy funnel cakes and fried twinkies that…burp….makes me….burp…wanna….nevermind.

Susan–> Isn’t that dog a hoot? I know this is hard to believe but the dog belonged to a gay male couple and and they had another dog in the very same rig. Matching dogs. Matching carriers. Yipes!

John–> Why must you make me refer to a dictionary with your vocabulary? Apropos. Never heard it before. Now I’ll use it so much grown men will weep. Apropos of annoying. (Was that appropriate usage? Huh? Was it?)

Um. No. But cool picture of you on the Boardwalk! I used to live with a guy who operated the Tilt-a-Whirl there. After eight months of living together, he sat me down one Sunday morning to tell me that he was gay, and couldn’t stop having … feelings about me.

Him: I don’t want to be gay!
Me: It’s not the sort of thing you have a choice in.
Him: I’ll join the Navy, like my father did! That’ll take the gay out of me!
    Me: I don’t think that’s such a good idea.

    Turns out I was right.

    They fry twinkies?

John–> No? Oh dang. Fine. I’ll keep trying with apropos> but leave it to you to know people with connections…the Tilt-a-Whirl operator no less! Oh the circles you travel in! Circles you travel in. Tilt-a-Whirl operator. Get it? Anyway, let me just add, sound advice you gave.

DragonLady–>Deep fried in batter. Sprinkle it with powdered sugar and you have one fully loaded nutritious treat…if in fact saturated oils and white sugar flow through your veins instead of blood.

Is that a Jack Russel Carrier? cuz I think that would be apropos.

Never been to Santa Cruz but you’ve got me thinking about fixing that someday. Is that shore line included with the ticket price?
