By association it came to be eternal and something to scare unbelievers! No mention of Gehenna outside NT-Israel context, as not relevant. I've been out for about two years now and it has completely flipped out my faith journey. Right now all I know is: there is a God, he created me, he created me for a purpose, he loves me, he wants me to love others, he wants me to help others, he does not need me to "convert" others, he has given me a love in my life, he won't leave me. All of the "fundamentalist" stuff is pretty much gone. I know that God is VERY BIG and I am very small so I will never understand heaven/hell questions/theology issues. God Bless you All!
