Shar –> I don’t think with God we need to read between the lines or look for exceptions or clauses. “I will never leave you or forsake you” I believe means exactly that. Never. Ever. And when we stumble and fall, God is still there, right in the middle of our mess. A loving parent will watch in compassion and sorrow as their child walks through the consequences of their actions but they don’t abandon them, leaving them to deal with their own mess. Instead they stay close and offer counsel and correction to help their child learn another way to behave that will lead to a more positive and life-affirming result the next time. Would God offer us any less?

“never” – Does never mean never step away, step back, let me suffer the consequences of my own actions and only return when I call for help – or did He really mean ‘never’? Mulling this one over…..
