Traipsing in Taos

Date July 7, 2008

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m in Taos for the week to attend a writer’s workshop. I arrived yesterday and the workshop begins this evening and so I’ve spent these few free hours visiting the Taos Pueblo and checking out the town on foot. The weather’s lovely which translated means it’s unseasonably cool rather than unbearably hot and the quaint town factor is off the charts. I was happy to discover that while they don’t have wireless internet at the Bed & Breakfast where I’m staying, if I open the window of my room, stand directly in front of it and then tip my laptop at a 45 degree angle I’m able to pick up a random wireless signal emanating from another building and access the internet in bleeps and beeps. How I discovered would only attest further to my obsessive compulsive nature so I’ll leave the details to your imagination. Just keep my connection challenge in mind over the next few days because while I have every intention of blogging I’m probably going to be biting the topic of (queer) Christian sexual ethics off in tiny pieces rather than my normal meanderings of insufferable length. A girl can only stand for so long in front of a window with a laptop extended in front of her without feeling somewhat foolish.

Oh Anita we love the lengths you will go to post! LOL And I’m sure we will all understand abbreviated versions. (does that mean normal blog length rules apply :) And we look forward to your full length ones when you get back to civilization. Hoping you have an excellent time all the way around.

I can just picture it..a funny image of you with laptop in that one particular angle that works. Dang girl, you do go above and beyond the call. And I for one thank you for it. Enjoy your week and the picture, I must say wow. I would love to partake in the quaint town factor.

AH! Technology! Chuckled at the plight of you having to perch your computer just right to access the random wireless connection! :)
Hope the trip is a good one!!
