An entrepreneur shares the results of a healthy lifestyle with his new store Wellness Within | News
Melissa Franco wants to share her success story with the Dallas community. She now offers a key part of the journey that led her to be healthier at her new store, Well Within Nutrition.
After having her second child, she discovered Herbalife health drinks.
“I had put on a lot of weight during the pregnancy. I wasn’t in a very good position,” she recalls. “So I started working on myself. I knew how to feel better.
After losing approximately 68 pounds in six months, along with a regular exercise regimen, Herbalife became more than a weight loss supplement.
“I tried these products and knew from there that there was a business opportunity,” Franco said.
After sharing her story with people asking her how she lost weight and had so much energy, Franco took her message online. Using social media, she shared her plan, eat, drink, train.
After four years and mired in domestic restrictions during the pandemic, Franco was ready to take the next step – brick and mortar.
“I got tired of being at home. I needed to be face to face with people again,” she recalled. “What can I do different to change that?”
After first trying public table setups, she had learned that nutrition stores like Well Within had started becoming a thing 3-4 years ago.
“Man, I really want to do this,” she thought.
So she got attached and started saving money. An opportunity arose when Gall Real Estate opened several stores for rent on Court Street. Well Within found itself in the former location of Country Financial. It took eight months to transform the space into a welcoming nutrition store, and Franco thinks the grand opening a few weeks ago was the perfect time for Dallas residents.
From everything she first sold online, she learned that people wanted to make healthy choices.
“I struggled to find quick and healthy options, something that works especially for moms. I started to see how other people struggled with that too,” Franco said. After everything with COVID has got people in a funky, indoors state of mind for so long, just eat whatever, do whatever, I think they’re finally getting to a point where we we can go out more and want to feel good again.”
Wellness Within offers protein shakes with 21 different vitamins and minerals, while keeping calories low and sugar to a minimum.
“It is easy to implement into a diet, perfect for a meal replacement. Muscle growth can be an easy addition to a small meal to what you are already eating. Really give the body the nutrients it needs to function as it should,” Franco said.
Then there are teas, which offer a good alternative to energy drinks and surgical coffees, she said.
“It’s a blend of tea with sugar-free flavors and aloe, which is good for your digestive system. An energizing tea that won’t make you cringe from a bunch of added sugars or calories,” Franco added.
She is already planning to expand the menu. Franco, who already offers gluten-free drinks, is working on vegan options, in addition to hot or iced coffee protein drinks, but without all the other “heaps of junk.”
Then, very soon after, she adds protein waffles and protein donuts. “Try to make sure that everything we have has the nutrients the body needs,” Franco said.
The next step in his program is to improve the aesthetics. She hopes to make the nutrition store more appealing to the after-school crowd and attract regulars from the nearby gym.
“I think there will be a lot of people who realize how good this is for them,” she said. “It’s a good place for the whole family. Kids because we have caffeinated drinks and a nutrition shake for them so they feel like they’re having a milkshake but it’s good for them. A little caffeine for the teens, or for the dawdling parents. I’m just trying to make it accessible to everyone out there.
