Release of data on COVID-19 cases and vaccines

Harrisonville, Missouri (December 13, 2021) –

Cass County released its weekly report documenting the impacts of COVID-19 and vaccination efforts to fight the pandemic. Data is for the week ending December 11, 2021.

There were 281 confirmed cases of PCR testing in Cass County last week, up from 191 cases the week before. In addition, there were 100 probable cases (antigen tests and other cases), up from 69 cases the previous week.

315 people have been told of a possible exposure, up from 218 last week. 230 of those exposures were linked to school systems, up from 130 notifications the week before. 85 people were told of an exposure outside of school systems, up from 88 the week before.

Overall, Cass County has reported 12,445 cases, or about 11,747 cases per 100,000 population.

The county has reported 136 deaths (129 per 100,000 population), including one death reported last week.

The Cass County Health Department administered 473 doses of the vaccine last week, up from 507 doses the week before. They have now administered 11,013 first doses and 10,586 second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. In addition, 318 third doses and 2,864 booster shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines have now been administered to those who qualify. The service uses the Pfizer (5 years and older) and Moderna (18 years and older) vaccines.

In addition to the vaccines administered by the Department of Health, other entities offer vaccines to residents of the county. According to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) data center which uses data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 56.1% of Cass County residents have started vaccinations and 48% have completed vaccinations . 77.1 percent of residents 65 and older and 53.9 percent of residents 18 to 64 have been fully immunized.

The health department will continue to offer immunizations 8:30 am to noon and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday through Friday at their new clinic at 2061 N Commercial St., Harrisonville, MO 64701. Walk-in visits are welcome but appointments are preferred. For an appointment, residents can call 816-380-8425 to schedule.
