Drunk driver and woman die in head-on collision; toddler hospitalized with broken bones, sheriff says
HIGHLANDS, Texas – A head-on accident in Highlands, Texas left two adults dead and a toddler hospitalized Thursday with broken bones, Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies said.
Investigators said two Chevy Silverado trucks collided head-on in the 1700 block of South Main Street at around 9:51 p.m. The two drivers, a 32-year-old male and female, died at the scene, said MPs.
“It’s a new year and unfortunately it’s the same story,” said Sean Teare, of the Harris County District Attorney’s Vehicle Crime Task Force.

MPs said that although the little girl was properly restrained in the vehicle with the woman, who is her mother, she suffered at least three broken limbs. She is now in stable condition, MPs said.
“The 2-year-old girl was taken to hospital in very serious condition and suffered broken arms and legs as well as a severe head laceration, but she is stable. Fortunately, being properly restrained and in a car seat, frankly, saved his life, ”said Sheriff Gonzalez.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the victim has been identified as 32-year-old Claudia Santillan. Vincente Aguilar has been identified as the suspected drunk driver.
“Alcohol was found in the car. We have a number of other leads that we’re looking at right now, that doesn’t point to an establishment he was drinking at, it appears to be a private residence, ”said Sean Teare.
