WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – More information is sought on a dog bite over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post from the Marathon County Health Department, a woman in her early 60s was bitten by a dog at the foot of Rib Mountain on Saturday morning. The health department is asking the public for help in locating the dog to determine its rabies vaccination status.
The dog is described as a possible medium to large sized Australian Cattle Dog or Blue Heeler. The dog’s owner was an estimated 20-year-old young woman who was with another young woman who was walking a Bernedoodle dog.
The two women were part of a larger group that was near the bottom of the hill. The victim had stopped to stroke the Bernedoodle and talk to the women. When the victim reached out to the other dog, the dog immediately bit her.
The victim went to seek medical assistance for the bite. She called the owner to ask if the dog was up to date on his rabies vaccinations. The owner replied that the dog was, but no information was exchanged between the two to verify the information.
The dog owner or anyone who knows who owns the dog is urged to contact the Marathon County Health Department at 715-261-1908.
