Police: a man from Valatie charged following an accident | Columbia County
RED HOOK – A Valatie man has been arrested following a two-car crash in Dutchess County, Constable Travis Sterritt of the Red Hook Police Department said Thursday.
Efrain Perez-Diaz, 27, was charged by Red Hook Police with two counts of impaired driving, both misdemeanors; consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle; and numerous vehicle and traffic violations, Sterritt said.
At around 8:13 p.m., Red Hook Police, Tivoli Fire Department and North Dutchess Paramedics were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to West Kerley Corners Road near the Guski Road intersection after having received reports of a two-car accident.
Perez-Diaz was driving a 2010 Ford West on West Kerley Corners Road when he failed to keep right and crossed the double yellow lines, hitting a 2004 Chevrolet truck driven by an unidentified 16-year-old from Clinton Corners , Sterritt said.
The impact of the accident caused extensive damage to both vehicles.
Perez-Diaz had a slight laceration on his arm, but refused medical treatment at the scene, Sterritt said. The teenager was not injured in the accident.
Police determined Perez-Diaz was intoxicated and was consuming alcohol in his vehicle before the crash, Sterritt said.
Perez-Diaz received tickets to the city of Red Hook Court.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office assisted Red Hook Police at the crash scene.
