The Wood County Department of Health has announced the winners of the 2021 Clean Plate Award.
The Clean Plate Award 2021 has been presented to 48 of the more than 800 licensed food establishments in Wood County.
These facilities are dedicated to maintaining excellent knowledge of hygiene and food safety within their operations. Recipients receive a Certificate of Excellence and recognition for excellent food safety performance from the Wood County Health Department. Clean Plate Award winners will also receive a sticker to display in their establishment.
This is the 10th year that the Wood County Board of Health has awarded this award. The facilities that receive it meet the requirements, including:
Minimum infractions during their inspections
Staff well trained in food safety knowledge
No confirmed complaints, foodborne illness or administrative hearing with the Ministry of Health in the past 2 years.
“We are always grateful to the catering establishments that work hard to earn this recognition. The past year has been a terrible year for our food facilities with closures and staff shortages due to the pandemic. Despite unprecedented hard times, these facilities have made food safety their number one priority, ”said Lana Glore, Director of Environmental Health.
